Barra de Santiago

This beach and estuary are wonderful for bird watching, swimming, sunning and other water sports. The area was declared a RAMSAR site in 2014. The Barra is calmer than other west coast beaches making it nicer for swimming and sunning.
At the end of the initial gravel road you will come to several local eateries and a public beach access. Opposite of the restaurants you can the docking area where small boats can be hired for tours in the mangroves or a trip out to the Bocana...where the estuary meets the ocean. Check before going as it may be necessary to obtain permits to enter the protected area.
